Say this about Chris Christie: He isn’t afraid to put himself in a position to be laughed at.

The New Jersey governor appeared more than willing to take the field at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night for a really good cause. The potential 2016 Republican presidential hopeful took part in the iTrueBlue celebrity softball game in New York. The game was played to raise money and honor the memories of NYPD officers Brian Moore, Wejnian Liu and Rafael Ramos, all of whom recently died in the line of duty.

Christie certainly isn’t a small human being, and the players in Wednesday night’s game all wore actual baseball uniforms. That led to some hilarious sights, particularly when it came to Christie who did his best to squeeze his larger-than-life frame into the uni.

The result was, well, here it is.

Oh, even better. There’s video.

All in all, not a bad swing. In fact, according to NJ.com, Christie was named “unofficial MVP” for his efforts. According to NJ.com’s live blog of the event, Christie won the honor for sparkling play at third base.

We’re also guessing former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani’s feet were hurting him Thursday morning, thanks to his curious decision to wear golf spikes for the game.
