Cleveland, Atlanta Headline Most Cursed Sports Cities In U.S. (Photos)

Some U.S. cities have enjoyed great success with their sports teams. Others, not so much.

“The Upshot,” an analytical blog in The New York Times, has released another study, this time to determine America’s most cursed sports city. With zero championships since 1965, Cleveland earns the dubious crown.

Cleveland isn’t the only city without a title in the last 50 years, but the study — which calculates the percentage of championships won by any of a city’s four-major sports teams over the last half century — also incorporates a “close-call” factor, defined by a city’s number of unsuccessful trips to the final four.

Fresh off the heels of their first win in an NBA Finals in franchise history, Cleveland Cavaliers have a chance to reverse the curse and finally bring a title to the championship-deprived city. However, as history dictates, it may not turn out as Cleveland fans hope.
