Many Boston Celtics fans booed when the team selected Louisville guard Terry Rozier with the 16th pick in the NBA draft Thursday, but the green and white made a good decision, according to one of the league’s brightest stars.
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard took to Twitter on Saturday and showed some love for Rozier.

Many had projected Rozier to be drafted somewhere between the late first and early second rounds, but the Celtics apparently saw something special in the young guard, prompting them to pull the trigger early. While Lillard didn’t provide followers with an in-depth analysis of Rozier’s skill set, it’s pretty clear he too sees flashes of greatness in the new Boston guard.
The Celtics attempted to move up in Thursday’s draft, according to general manager Danny Ainge, but the asking price turned out to be too high. After drafting Rozier with the 16th pick, the team scooped up Georgia State standout R.J. Hunter at No. 28, making for a pretty intense guard situation going into training camp.
With a ton of young talent and future draft picks, look for Boston to be in the center of many free-agent and trade rumors this offseason. If the team doesn’t make a move, however, Damian Lillard appears to like the Celtics’ chances with Terry Rozier on the court.
