The reconsruction of Liverpool’s attack is underway following the signing of Danny Ings.
Ings agreed to join the Reds from Burnley as a free agent, Liverpool announced on its website Monday. The 22-year-old striker will move to Anfield on July 1 when the summer transfer window opens.

Ings’ contract is set to expire, but Liverpool must pay compensation to Burnely for its role in developing him into the player he now is.
Ings has earned plaudits for his durability, determination and eye for goal. He will test those strengths at a club with higher expectations and greater internal competition than Burnley.
Ings scored 43 goals in 130 games for Burnley between 2011 and 2015, including 11 goals (plus four assists) in 35 games last season in his debut Premier League campaign. Ings also plays for England’s U-21 national team, with which he has scored four goals in nine games since 2013. Ings previously played for Bournemouth.
Ings will join a Liverpool team that struggled mightily to score goals last season.

Liverpool’s current crop of strikers includes Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini. One or more of them are expected to leave the club this summer, as Ings and Divock Origi arrive as reinforcements.
