David Ortiz Returns To Red Sox Lineup For Series Finale Vs. Orioles

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell sat David Ortiz on Wednesday, but the designated hitter is back in the lineup Thursday night.

Ortiz has been struggling for most of the season, and that’s led to an increased amount of off days for the 39-year-old slugger. However, he’ll get his latest chance to break out in the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

The Red Sox will be looking to salvage the final game of the three-game set, and they’ll attempt to do so against right-hander Chris Tillman. The Baltimore righty has done a nice job against Ortiz in his career, limiting the Boston DH to a .200 average (6-for-30) with a home run and two RBIs.

Red Sox left-hander Wade Miley will try to play the role of stopper. He’ll be looking to avenge a disastrous early-season start against Baltimore at Camden Yards. Miley took the loss on April 26, allowing six earned runs over 2 1/3 innings.
