Dez Bryant wants a new contract, and he might not take the field until he gets one.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Friday that the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver would consider sitting out Dallas’ season opener if he and the team cannot come to terms on a long-term contract by July 15 — a report Bryant himself confirmed to NFL Media’s Michael Silver.

The Cowboys earlier this spring franchise-tagged Bryant, which would guarantee him a salary of $12,823,000 for the 2015 season. The sixth-year wideout, who led the NFL with 16 receiving touchdowns last season, has yet to sign that agreement, instead arguing he deserves a long-term deal.
Dallas begins its season Sept. 13, when the New York Giants visit AT&T Stadium for a Sunday night tilt.
