The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made good use our of their No. 1 waiver claim Friday.
The Buccaneers reclaimed tight end Tim Wright off of waivers from the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay announced. Wright was released by the Patriots on Thursday.
The Buccaneers originally signed Wright as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers in 2013. He was traded to the Patriots in August 2013 after a 54-catch, 571-yard, five-touchdown rookie season. The Bucs acquired guard Logan Mankins from the Patriots for Wright and a 2015 fourth-round draft pick, which New England used on defensive lineman Trey Flowers.
Wright caught 26 passes for 259 yards with six touchdowns last season, but he received just 10 offensive snaps in the playoffs.
