The apple didn’t fall very far from the flame-throwing tree in the Hernandez family.

We already know what kind of pitcher Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez is. The 2010 American League Cy Young winner is arguably the best right-handed pitcher in all of baseball and is one of the most dependable arms of his generation.

Whenever the 29-year-old Hernandez calls it a career — hopefully, not for a long while — it’s likely there will be another member of the family following in his footsteps. As Hernandez’s son, Jeremy, showed Sunday, a strong right arm appears to run in the family.

As part of a Father’s Day celebration at Safeco Field, some of the Mariners’ kids threw out ceremonial first pitches. When it was young Jeremy’s turn to throw his pitch, he didn’t hold back. The youngster unleashed a fastball that reminded us of, well, his father.
