LeBron James made quite the statement in this year’s NBA Finals. But Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors got the final word.

The Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6 on Tuesday night to win their first title since 1975. Naturally, spirits were high for Golden State after the game, and Thompson used his postgame press conference to offer the ultimate compliment to teammate Stephen Curry.

Did you hear that, LeBron?

It’s possible Thompson was just heaping praise on his fellow Splash Brother, but let’s not forget the comment James made after Game 5: “I feel confident because I’m the best player in the world.”

What you did there, Klay. We see it.

By literal definition, the Warriors sharpshooter isn’t wrong, as Curry won the NBA MVP award this season as the league’s best player. Yet it’s hard to criticize James for his beliefs, either, as he easily was the best player on the floor throughout the series despite Andre Iguodala taking home the Finals MVP trophy.

That’s a small consolation prize for LeBron, though, who now has lost in four of his six Finals appearances and likely isn’t done getting trolled by the haters.
