L.A. Galaxy To Introduce Steven Gerrard As Latest Signing On July 4

Steven Gerrard will begin his American soccer adventure on the Fourth of July.

The Los Angeles Galaxy announced on Monday they will introduceĀ GerrardĀ to fans as their newest player on July 4 at halftime of their Major League Soccer game against Toronto FC at The StubHub Center, according to MLSSoccer.com.

Gerrard officially joins the Galaxy on July 8. He’ll begin practicing with his new team on July 7. Gerrard is eligible to make his official debut for the Galaxy against the San Jose Earthquakes on July 11.

Gerrard will wear No. 8 with Los Angeles, just as he did for many years with Liverpool.

Gerrard ended his 17-plus-year Liverpool career last month. Gerrard arrived in Los Angeles on Saturday to great fanfare.

“Gerrard and his wife, Alex Curran, touched down to a celebrity’s welcome on Saturday, as paparazzi mobbed them in the arrivals terminal at Los Angeles International Airport,” MLSSoccer.com reported Monday.

Gerrard announced in January he would leave Liverpool and join the Galaxy.
