Did Milan Lucic throw shade at the Boston Bruins?
Probably not. But that’s what some on Twitter began speculating immediately after the veteran forward commented for the first time on Friday’s trade to the Los Angeles Kings.

The Bruins traded Lucic to the Kings in exchange for the 13th overall pick in Friday’s NHL draft, backup goaltender Martin Jones and defenseman prospect Colin Miller. The move came shortly after Boston traded defenseman Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames for three 2015 draft picks, including the 15th overall selection. Boston owned the No. 13, No. 14 and No. 15 picks immediately after the Lucic deal.
The B’s are moving and shaking, though their end game this offseason remains unclear. Lucic likely wasn’t throwing shade at his former team, given that the 27-year-old had a solid eight-year run with Boston. But his comment was enough to create Internet buzz, especially since the Kings, like the Bruins, didn’t make the playoffs last season.
In any event, Los Angeles wasted no time in giving Lucic a hero’s welcome. Below is a snapshot of the Kings’ official website from early Friday night, just before the NHL draft.
