New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez made history Friday night when he hit a home run in the first inning of his team’s 7-2 win over the Detroit Tigers for the 3,000th hit of his career.

The New York Post and New York Daily News expectedly decided to make fun of him instead of celebrating the accomplishment.

Rodriguez missed the entire 2014 season for his involvement in Major League Baseball’s Biogenesis scandal. Despite all of the media attention on his past, the Yankees third baseman is having a pretty good season with a .277 batting average, 13 homers and 35 RBIs.
