Pat Venditte can pitch under any circumstances. Left-handed, right-handed, on land, under water, you name it.

But yeah, about that last part.

The East Oregonian apparently believes Venditte has an extra rare talent, as the newspaper published the following headline after the Oakland Athletics switch pitcher made his MLB debut against the Boston Red Sox last week.

Now that’s how you make a splash.

We’re assuming the paper meant to quantify Venditte’s unique ability as “ambidextrous,” but it also could be making a nod to a famous quote from the late, great Yogi Berra.

Then again, Oakland’s stadium is a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean, so maybe an aquatic appearance is in Venditte’s future. We’ll just have to wait and sea.
