The general rule of thumb — if you’re not an evil person — is that any grown adult who catches a foul ball at an MLB game with a young kid close by should give the ball away.

But one Pittsburgh Pirates fan took that rule to the next level.

During the fifth inning of Wednesday’s Pirates-Giants game in San Francisco, a man donning a Pittsburgh jersey caught a foul ball off the bat of Pirates second baseman Neil Walker. And even though there were no kids in the vicinity, the fan found a little girl, who came prepared with her glove, at the other side of his section and gave her his prize.

If that’s not a look of pure joy, we don’t know what is.

The Pirates fan received a round of applause for his random act of kindness, and karma rewarded him with a 5-2 Pittsburgh win.
