“Friday Night Lights” author Buzz Bissinger interviewed Jenner, who said: “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’ ”

Vanity Fair also provided a behind-the-scenes look at Jenner’s shoot with Annie Leibovitz.

The issue hits newstands June 9, but you can read the story and see the pictures before then by subscribing to Vanity Fair’s digital edition on iPhone or iPad.

ORIGINAL STORY: Bruce Jenner isn’t new to the spotlight, but the former U.S. Olympic gold medalist will face a new type of publicity this summer.

Instead of posing for the front of Wheaties boxes, Jenner will pose as a woman on the cover of Vanity Fair after undergoing gender reassignment surgery, People magazine reported Friday, citing multiple sources.

Jenner has not yet revealed his new look, and the photo shoot will be the first time he showcases the results of the surgery. World-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, best known for iconic photos of John Lennon and a pregnant Demi Moore, will shoot the cover in the coming months, an industry source told People.

Jenner, 65, told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in April that, “For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman.”

“E!” also will chronicle Jenner’s new lifestyle as a woman later this summer in an eight-part docuseries, around the time the Vanity Fair cover is scheduled to be released.
