Injuries stink, but when an NFL kicker injures himself playing kickball, you kind of have to laugh.

That’s reportedly what happened to Miami Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis, as the Miami Herald reported Friday that Sturgis recently suffered a quad injury playing kickball. The injury came during a team-organized kickball game, which was supposed to help team-building, according to the report.

So much for that.

The Herald reported the injury was to Sturgis’ left leg — his plant leg — and it will keep him out for the rest of the Dolphins’ OTAs. Sturgis reportedly will resume activity in two to three weeks and should be ready for training camp.

Sturgis, who is entering his third season in the NFL, connected on 29 of 37 field-goal attempts last season and has a 77.5 percent career success rate.
