Yet another Florida State football player could be in trouble with the law.
Seminoles quarterback De’Andre Johnson was indefinitely suspended from the team Thursday, according to ESPN, for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Sources told ESPN’s Mark Schlabach that Johnson is accused of punching a female student at a Tallahassee bar.
According to the ESPN report, Johnson punched the woman after she cut in front of him at the bar to order drinks. Witnesses told police the woman raised her arms, then Johnson grabbed her arms and punched her in the face.
Johnson hasn’t been charged and wasn’t even questioned by police because he left the bar before he could be.
Tallahassee police released a copy of the incident report but redacted everything but the woman’s name and contact info.
Johnson is a freshman and isn’t expected to contend for the starting job. Regardless, it’s not a great look for Jimbo Fisher’s program after all of the drama most recent quarterback Jameis Winston went through while at FSU. Most notably, Winston was accused of sexual assault in college, although he was never charged. Winston did, however, serve 20 hours of community service after he was given a citation for stealing crab legs from a Publix grocery store in Tallahassee last April.
