Rick Porcello finally broke his personal six-start losing streak.
The Boston Red Sox right-hander managed to limit the Tampa Bay Rays to three earned runs in six innings Friday night, the second-fewest runs he has allowed in over a month. He also earned a quality start, his seventh of the season. He wasn’t able to notch a win, though, as the Red Sox scored the game-winning run in extra innings, long after he left the 4-3 victory.
Porcello was in much better spirits following the game than he has been in recent past, and he was sure to applaud the efforts of Boston’s bullpen, which tossed four scoreless innings in relief. Check out Porcello’s comments in the video above.
