Steven Wright has been the consummate professional. The 30-year-old knuckleballer has done everything the Boston Red Sox have asked of him, and his 3.65 ERA and 1.16 WHIP indicate he’s been highly successful when he does.
After being shifted to the bullpen Sunday — “demoted” seems like too harsh a word for someone who has pitched so well — Wright was simply happy to be in the big leagues instead of sent back to Triple-A Pawtucket.
NESN’s Tom Caron caught up with Wright after he provided 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in the Red Sox’s 7-4 come-from-behind win.
Check out what Wright had to say in the video above.
