If the 2024 Summer Olympic Games are awarded to Boston, the TD Garden would play host to a few events.

Charlie Jacobs, CEO of Delaware North’s Boston holdings, announced Thursday at a press conference that the TD Garden would be the site of men’s and women’s basketball finals and Olympic gymnastics, as well as the Paralympic basketball finals.

Boston 2024 chairman and Boston Celtics managing partner Steve Pagliuca also was on hand.

Rome and Hamburg, Germany are among the other candidates to host the 2024 Olympics. An official announcement on which city will be awarded the Olympics will be made by the International Olympic Committee in 2017.

The last American city to host the Summer Games was Atlanta in 1996. The next Summer Olympics will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.
