The New York Knicks have one of the most ludicrous and critical fan bases in all of sports. Fans attending the NBA draft and booing the Knicks’ selection — regardless of whom their beloved team selects — has become as much a part of the franchise’s storied tradition as anything else.
Thursday night, one young Knicks fan eternally enshrined himself in the ridiculousness when the team selected Latvian forward Kristaps Porzingis No. 4 overall. Not only did the kid burst into tears when NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced the selection, he recorded it on his giant smart phone.
If that’s not the most 2015 thing you’ve ever heard of, we don’t know what is.
To say we’re excited to see this kid all grown up and wearing a Porzingis jersey in a future “30 for 30” documentary is an understatement. Let’s hope his night gets a little better, though.
