Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth took advantage of what might be the best weather St. Andrews will see this weekend on Day 1 of the 2015 British Open.
With wind and rain potentially in the forecast going forward, the duo of Johnson and Spieth — who battled to the brink at the U.S. Open and were paired together Thursday — jumped out to hot starts in the opening round, shooting 7-under 65 and 5-under 67, respectively.
Tiger Woods was more of a non-story than anything else, though his putrid performance was bad enough that broadcasters called him a “hack.”
Johnson and Spieth stick together again on Friday and look to maintain their standing, while Woods hopes to rebound enough to make the cut and advance.
