ORIGINAL POST: BOSTON — The Red Sox lost another second baseman to injury Sunday night.

Brock Holt exited Sunday’s matchup with the Detroit Tigers after the fifth inning with what the team called “left knee tightness.”

Holt initially suffered the injury while taking a turn at first base following a first-inning single. He remained in the game for another two at-bats before being replaced by Jemile Weeks, who made his season debut with the Red Sox after being recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket earlier in the day.

Holt went 2-for-3 with a run scored in his three at-bats.

Boston already was without its starting second baseman, Dustin Pedroia, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday after reaggravating a hamstring injury.
