You know it’s the slow season for sports when an emoji war between athletes breaks the Internet.
ESPN reported Wednesday that free agent center DeAndre Jordan was having second thoughts about agreeing to a four-year, maximum deal with the Dallas Mavericks and would meet with his former Los Angeles Clippers one last time. Word was that Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and coach Doc Rivers were flying to Houston to speak with Jordan and that former teammates Chris Paul and Blake Griffin were leaving their respective vacations to join them.
So this is how Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons chose to respond to the news on Twitter.

Clippers players J.J. Redick, Griffin and Paul quickly responded with some travel emojis of their own. Paul even referenced the banana boat he was spotted riding in the Bahamas on Tuesday.

The war immediately blew up, and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was thoroughly confused as to why Twitter was full of emojis.

Paul Pierce, the newest Clipper, tried to play, too, but his age quickly showed when everyone noticed he just posted a photo of an emoji.

Clippers assistant coach Mike Woodson, however, had no problem joining.
