David Ortiz did what every Boston Red Sox fan in attendance Tuesday night wanted to do when he got a selfie with the man of the hour.
The Red Sox designated hitter played a key role in Pedro Martinez’s number retirement ceremony at Fenway Park. It was Ortiz who made the final call for Martinez’s No. 45 to be unveiled on the right field facade, a fitting tribute given the two players’ relationship.
However, Ortiz also wanted to get something a little extra to commemorate the evening: a selfie, naturally. The DH was able to snap a photo with Martinez in front of the pitcher’s brand-new National Baseball Hall of Fame plaque.
The result was actually pretty good.
