Dustin Pedroia wasn’t in the Boston Red Sox’s starting lineup for the first time since the All-Star break.
Pedroia, who’s in a 1-for-22 slump since returning from the disabled list last week, was replaced by Brock Holt at second base for Boston’s Thursday night game against the Houston Astros.
“He is out of the lineup, and he’s not 100 percent,” NESN’s Jerry Remy said on “Red Sox Gameday Live” before Thursday’s game. “I was talking with him this afternoon, and that hamstring still is a problem for him. Now, we expected when he got back that his timing would be off a little bit, and it has been.
“He’s hit a couple balls hard that have been caught, but for the most part, the timing has not been there.”
