Dustin Pedroia has been in Boston for almost a decade, so he’s as qualified as anyone to give a tour of the city.
Still, it’s safe to say these nine people were a bit surprised when they saw the Boston Red Sox second baseman standing in front of them.
Pedroia recently teamed up with Salem Five to give a special thank-you to the bank’s “Heart League” contest winners. Each of the contest’s nine winners were nominated by their peers and won for their unparalleled dedication to a variety of causes, from providing medical care and school supplies to underprivileged children to raising money for health care research and veterans’ care.
Pedroia, who on Tuesday became the Red Sox’s recipient of the Heart and Hustle Award, recently met the nine winners on Salem Five’s “Party Trolley,” taking them on a fun-filled ride around Boston that ended at Fenway Park with a VIP tour.
