Actor Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly is considering a role in an upcoming movie about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, according to Variety.

The “Southpaw” actor would portray Boston Marathon survivor Jeff Bauman in Lionsgate’s upcoming film “Survivor,” which is based on Bauman’s best-selling book about his experiences before, during and after the bombing — including losing both of his legs and helping spark the chaotic manhunt for terrorists Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

“Stronger” is one of three planned Boston Marathon bombing films currently in development. Boston native Mark Wahlberg is producing and starring in a film about the event called “Patriot’s Day,” and FOX is working on a film called “Boston Strong.”
