Last summer, the Ice Bucket Challenge saw famous sports figures around the country take the plunge to raise awareness for ALS. A new cause has emerged this summer, and Jimmy Kimmel is enlisting the sports community once again.
The late-night television host recently got in front of the camera to join the #SmashSMA movement, which aims to raise awareness for spinal muscular atrophy. The protocol looks simple: Smash a bunch of things, then call out others to do the same while mentioning the cause.
Kimmel did just that, challenging Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer — along with recording artist Kid Rock and actress Kristen Bell — to carry the torch.
Given what we know about Ballmer, we can only imagine he’ll accept this challenge with all sorts of enthusiasm.
