Liverpool expects Jordon Ibe to contribute goals in 2015-16. Here’s an example of why the 19-year-old might be ready to fire.
Ibe, 19, scored an excellent goal Friday in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with the Malaysian XI in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ibe’s screamer gave Liverpool fans their first glimpse of the goal-scoring ability Ibe has been honing in order to build on his promising rookie season.
Ibe struck in the 28th minute, leveling the score for the Reds.

Ibe played 13 games for Liverpool last season following his mid-term recall from a loan spell at Derby County. Ibe didn’t score or register any assists in those outings but his speed, dribbling ability and goals like this suggest his goal production will increase in competitive games this season.
After the game, Adam Lallana said he and other teammates have been encouraging Ibe to shoot more than he has done in the past.
“Jordon has been very impressive,” Lallana told LFCTour.com. “We’ve been saying to him to get his shots off and it paid off — from his supposedly weaker side.
“That shows what great ability the lad has got. He’s got a great attitude and wants to work hard. He will be a great asset for us this season.”
Manager Brendan Rodgers echoed Lallana’s praise for Ibe, saying the teenage winger has impressed him throughout preseason.
“He’s been outstanding since he’s been out here and he’s staken a real claim to start the season in the team,” Rodgers told LFCTour.com. “(It was a) wonderful goal, I thought he was a threat all night with his pace, his quality and it was wonderful finish cutting inside and a great strike. He was very good and like I say he has been working very hard.”
Ibe, one of Liverpool’s hottests prospects, can deliver on his promise by remaining on his current path … and shooting when the time is right.
