LeGarrette Blount might not be on the practice field for the New England Patriots’ first training camp session Thursday.

Blount, defensive tackle Alan Branch and offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann were placed on the non-football injury list, according to the NFL transaction wire. Blount is expected to be the Patriots’ starting running back this season after serving a one-game suspension.

The Patriots also officially re-signed fullback James Develin as an exclusive-rights free agent and announced their contract with veteran cornerback Tarell Brown. Develin participated in Patriots organized team activities and minicamp, and news of Brown’s deal was reported last week.

Blount, Branch and Hauptmann join quarterback Matt Flynn on the Patriots’ non-football injury list. Linebackers Dane Fletcher and Chris White; defensive linemen Dominique Easley, Chris Jones and Vince Taylor; wide receivers Brandon LaFell and Matthew Slater, and offensive lineman Ryan Wendell will start the season on the physically unable to perform list.

Players can be removed from the non-football injury or PUP lists at any point during training camp.
