At times Wade Miley has shined this season. Others, not so much. But as of Friday, he’s the ace of the staff — whether you like it or not.
Clay Buchholz has been the team’s best pitcher, but is injured. Eduardo Rodriguez has been stellar, but he’s just a rookie. Rick Porcello makes the most money, but he’s struggled along the way. The team still hasn’t announced a fifth starter coming out of the break.
And just like that, Wade Miley becomes the front-end man in the rotation.
He’ll take the ball Friday night in Los Angeles versus the Angels, whom he dominated back in May. NESN’s Steve Lyons breaks down what Miley needs to do going forward and why the onus falls squarely on his shoulders for the time being.
