Amir Johnson’s name might not have sparked much enthusiasm among Boston Celtics fans, but rival NBA executives are raving about Danny Ainge’s most impactful offseason pickup.
Ainge, the Celtics’ president of basketball operations, pulled off a coup when he signed the former Toronto Raptors big man to a team-friendly deal, more than one league source told MassLive’s Jay King at the NBA summer league. They also discussed Marcus Smart’s summer league injury and a somewhat surprising proposal for who the Celtics should cut to pare their roster down to the maximum 15 players before the season begins.
