PITTSBURGH — The NFL reduced Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell’s suspension from three games to two Tuesday.
The league initially suspended Bell three games in April following his arrest in August 2014 on DUI and drug charges.
Bell was sentenced to 15 months of probation among other penalties following a traffic stop on Aug. 20, 2014. Former teammate LeGarrette Blount, who was in the car with Bell at the time, was cited for marijuana possession and sentenced to 50 hours of community service. The league suspended Blount, now a member of the New England Patriots, for the 2015 opener when New England hosts Pittsburgh.
Bell will be eligible to return Sept. 27 when the Steelers play at St. Louis.
