Red Sox Catcher Ryan Hanigan Impressed By Brian Johnson’s MLB Debut (Video)

Brian Johnson’s Boston Red Sox debut did not start according to plan.

The left-hander took the loss in his first major league start, tossing just 4 1/3 innings in an 8-3 defeat to the Houston Astros.

However, he did appear to settle down after a rocky start, as he sat the Astros down in order in the third and fourth innings.

“I thought he did pretty well,” Red Sox catcher Ryan Hanigan, who caught Johnson’s debut, said on “Red Sox Final” after the loss. “Good use of his curveball. We kind of pitched backwards to some guys and that worked out. The fastball command was decent. But he got through some situations, had some quick innings there.”
