Red Sox Looking For Ways To Improve Future, Will ‘Add If They Can’ (Video)

With the Boston Red Sox struggling to start the second half, general manager Ben Cherington met with the media in Houston on Wednesday.

That press conference covered a wide range of topics, some of which were discussed by NESN’s Steve Lyons, Dennis Eckersley and Tom Caron before Boston took on the Houston Astros.

“I think they are going to get rid of anything they can, but I think they have to add,” Lyons said on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Wednesday’s game. “This is the Boston Red Sox who add if they can, if they can make their team better for next year. I don’t think they’re thinking in terms of this year.

“They’re thinking in terms of what’s going to happen — can we get a guy that is maybe locked down that can help us for the future without getting rid of anyone we really want to hang on to?”
