The Jason Pierre-Paul drama continued on Wednesday, this time bearing news New York Giants fans aren’t going to enjoy hearing.

According to a document obtained by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Giants defensive end had his right index finger amputated following a fireworks accident over Fourth of July weekend.

A separate ESPN report earlier Wednesday claimed Giants officials were turned away at the South Florida hospital Pierre-Paul currently is checked into when they attempted to visit and find out how severe Pierre-Paul’s injuries were. The report claims the officials were not invited and did not ask to visit in advance and thus never made it past the hospital’s waiting room.

Schefter added that Pierre-Paul is expected to play in 2015.

Pierre-Paul, a two-time Pro Bowler, has not signed his $14.8 million franchise tender. The deadline for him and the Giants to agree to an alternate deal is July 15, at which point he would be forced to play under that contract unless the team withdraws the offer.
