Arturo Vidal is about to change his stripes amid the busiest of summers.

Vidal is closing in on a move from Juventus to Bayern Munich after the clubs agreed on a transfer fee worth €40 million (£28 million/$44 Million), The Guardian reported Thursday. Vidal currently is negotiating contract terms with Bayern Munich, and the Chilean midfielder officially could join the German giant before this weekend.

Vidal, 28, is one of the most highly rated and in-demand midfielders in the soccer world. He helped Juventus win four consecutive Serie A (Italian first division) titles and helped the club reach the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League final, which it lost to Barcelona.

Vidal followed his fine season at the club level by helping host-nation Chile win the 2015 COMNEBOL Copa America, despite his mid-tournament arrest on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Vidal’s name never has been as prominent as now, and his stock rarely has been higher. Juventus appears to be ready to cash in on a player it bought from German club Bayer Leverkusen in 2011 for a reported €12.5 million (£8.7 million/$13.6 million).

Bayern Munich wanted to sign Vidal four years ago, but Leverkusen blocked his move to its domestic rival. Bayern Munich now is finally about to land Vidal, and the timing is right. Bayern Munich sold Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United on Monday, and fans are keen for a big name to replace the club icon in the midfield.

Vidal certainly fits the bill.
