Rick Porcello Helps Red Sox Win First Game Since All-Star Break (Video)

The Boston Red Sox got a much-needed win Friday night, and Rick Porcello was a big reason why.

Porcello pitched seven innings, allowing only one run while striking out six in Boston’s 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. It was the longest he lasted in a game since June 3, and it came against his former team, no less.

Porcello didn’t factor into the decision, but his pitching helped keep the score close until Xander Bogaerts’ walk-off hit in the bottom of the 11th inning.

“It’s huge, especially after the road trip we just came off of,” Porcello said on “Red Sox Final” after Friday’s win. “We needed to find a way and we did it tonight.”
