Rick Porcello is finally in the win column.
Porcello earned his first “W” in almost two months Wednesday with a shaky but effective performance in the Boston Red Sox’s 6-3 win over the Miami Marlins. With catcher Ryan Hanigan behind the plate, Porcello allowed just two runs over six innings of work. Miami certainly had its chances, as they got to Porcello for eight hits and a walk, but the right-hander escaped every jam he found himself in with minimal damage.
The outing earned Porcello his first victory since May 16 — a stretch that saw him go 0-7 in eight starts with an 8.18 ERA. Porcello’s second half of the season will be critical to Boston should it hope to continue the resurgence the team has begun.
Porcello talked about his win on NESN’s “Red Sox Final,” as seen in the video above.
