By now, you’ve heard about Rick Porcello’s well-documented struggles, his 0-7 record and 8.18 ERA in his last eight starts, and how the team considered skipping his final turn in the rotation before the All-Star break.

So, while things haven’t exactly looked great for the Boston Red Sox’s prized offseason acquisition, he’s still one of the most important pieces to the team’s puzzle.

Winners of three straight, the Sox turn to Porcello on Wednesday in hopes of earning their first four-game win streak of the season. The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo sat down on NESN’s “Red Sox First Pitch” to talk about Porcello’s importance to the team going forward.
