For all the bombast Roddy Piper showed in the ring and on wrestling shows, perhaps he’ll be best remembered for one line he delivered in a sci-fi film.
Piper, who died Thursday night at age 61, fought aliens in the 1988 movie “They Live” and had a simple message upon spotting some bad guys in a bank. (Warning: This was a shoot-em-up film, so the following clip might be a bit graphic for some viewers)
Piper’s “chew bubblegum and kick ass” attitude resonated, inspiring the Duke Nukem video-game character and even a line of bubblegum-flavored soda personally endorsed by the wrestler.
