The United States women’s national soccer team rose to the top Sunday, and FIFA has formalized its new status less than a week later.

Team USA occupies first place in the latest FIFA rankings, world soccer’s governing body announced Friday. The U.S. triumphed at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and overtook Germany for the top spot in the reckoning.

The U.S. sat in second place at the start of the 2015 Women’s World Cup. Seven consecutive wins, including one over previously top-ranked Germany in the semifinals, catapulted Team USA to the top.

The top spot in FIFA’s rankings is among the much-deserved honors Team USA is enjoying. The United States’ epic victory lap began with a rally Tuesday in Los Angeles, continued Wednesday with a phone call from President Obama and hit a high note Wednesday with a ticker-tape parade in New York City.
