Fear not, college football fans. The best time of the year is right around the corner.

The first NFL training camps already have begun, and college football will begin shortly after as schools prepare for their season openers in early September.

Since it’s never too early to start talking football, The Big Lead decided to break down the best and worst weekends of the upcoming college football season. Some weekends feature a mixed slate when it comes to entertaining games, but there’s one huge exception: Week 13.

What has become known as “Rivalry Week” easily will be the best weekend in college football this season. Here’s a small sampling: Alabama vs. Auburn in the “Iron Bowl,” Mississippi vs. Mississippi State in the “Egg Bowl,” Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer squaring off in Michigan versus Ohio State and a potential playoff-deciding battle in Baylor vs. TCU.

And that’s just the half of it.

So make sure you clear your calendars from Nov. 24 to Nov. 28, because you won’t want to miss these fierce rivalries that could have implications for college football’s second four-team playoff.
