Plenty of stars were on the field Monday night at Fenway Park. But Christopher Duffley stole the show.
Duffley, a 14-year-old from Manchester, N.H., who is blind and autistic, was called on to sing the national anthem at “Autism Speaks Night” before the Boston Red Sox’s game against the Cleveland Indians.
After checking the microphone and receiving encouraging support from the Fenway crowd, Duffley started singing — and blew everyone away.

Duffley was born prematurely, weighing only 1 pound, 12 ounces at birth, and was rendered blind because of a disease called retinopathy of prematurity. But that hasn’t stopped the local teen from using his amazing voice to inspire thousands.
That certainly was the case Monday night, as Duffley received a huge ovation from the Fenway crowd and provided a bright spot during a night when the Red Sox later lost 8-2.
