The Deflategate controversy has exposed plenty of NFL office connections to the New York Jets. It turns out there’s also a pretty undeniable tie to the Indianapolis Colts.

As ProFootballTalk.com pointed out Friday, the Colts actually are promoting that connection on their website.

The biography page for vice president of football operations Jimmy Raye III has something of a throw-away line at the end, but it’s kind of an eyebrow-raiser after what’s happened in recent months.

Jimmy Raye bio

The Deflategate connections are obvious. This whole thing started in the hours after the AFC Championship Game, in which the Patriots steamrolled the Colts 45-7. Furthermore, it was Vincent who levied an incredibly harsh punishment on the Patriots — taking away draft picks, fining the club a $1 million and suspending quarterback Tom Brady for four games — for their alleged role in Deflategate. One could assume Vincent turned to say, a senior adviser, during that process.

It probably goes without saying the Colts and Patriots are pretty big AFC rivals, which also is why this is a little bit odd.

Of course, it all could mean nothing and there could be absolutely zero funny business or anything even resembling that happening. However, it’s not the greatest look for the NFL, especially given credibility issues that have come to light during this entire saga.
