It’s unclear what Starlin Castro’s future looks like, but one thing is clear: Addison Russell will be the Chicago Cubs’ shortstop for a long time.

However, the Cubs might want to keep Castro around as a second baseman, especially considering what the two did Wednesday night against the San Francisco Giants.

Russell and Castro combined in the third inning for one of the finest double plays we’ve seen this season. Giants catcher Buster Posey hit a rocket on the ground at Russell. He picked it cleanly and quickly turned and fired a bullet to Castro at second who turned it over for the sparkling double play.

That certainly gives you a look at how good that middle infield combination could be. In fact, when you pair that duo with Kris Bryant at third and Anthony Rizzo at first, it’s easy to see why there’s plenty of excitement on the North Side right now.

Oh, and that infield has an average age of 23 1/2. It’s crazy to say, but it’s a good time to be a Cubs fan.
