UPDATE (9:00 p.m. ET): In addition to being removed from ESPN’s Little League World Series coverage, Curt Schilling won’t be in the booth for this week’s “Sunday Night Baseball” game, according to ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz, via Awful Announcing.
Schilling’s removal from this weekend’s broadcast comes a day after he sent out a tweet comparing Muslims to Nazis.
ORIGINAL STORY: Curt Schilling is holding himself accountable.
Schilling was removed from ESPN’s Little League World Series coverage Tuesday after the former major league pitcher sent an insensitive tweet comparing Muslims to Nazis. He deleted the tweet soon after.
ESPN issued the following statement regarding the incident: “Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration.”
Schilling since has apologized, via the same medium that landed him in hot water.
Schilling also responded to several Twitter users with apologetic tweets.
