Dave Dombrowski: Hanley Ramirez’s Move To First Base ‘Seems Logical’ (Video)

Boston Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski says he likes what he sees from his team’s three young outfielders — Jackie Bradley Jr., Mookie Betts and Rusney Castillo. But that means he needs to find a different spot for current left fielder Hanley Ramirez.

It appears first base is the likely landing spot for Ramirez, who was a late scratch from Friday’s game against the New York Mets.

“Well we wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t,” Dombrowski said of Ramirez’s pending move to first base on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Friday’s game. “Really when I came onboard and I talked to John (Henry) and Tom (Werner) about this, is that we’re really looking toward 2016. So to me it seems logical — and I had watched some games on television already at that point — there’s three good, young outfielders.

“You like them all to play and they’re outstanding defensive outfielders. So of course the only way you can do it is if you move Hanley out of left.”
