Doug Martin To NFL’s Twitter: Please Stop Calling Me ‘Muscle Hamster’

The holiday season is a few months away, and Doug Martin won’t be asking for any fancy new toys. He just wants everyone to stop calling him by that dumb nickname.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back earned the nickname “Muscle Hamster” back in college thanks to a few Boise State teammates impressed by his small stature and incredible strength.

Yet Martin doesn’t really care for the moniker, a sentiment he’s expressed pretty much every year since entering the NFL in 2012. Apparently, the league didn’t get all those memos before Monday night’s preseason game between the Bucs and the Cincinnati Bengals.

That’s a pretty nice run, Doug. But how do you feel about being called “Muscle Hamster” after you’ve repeatedly told people to stop?

Martin finished the night with six carries for 59 yards, giving Bucs fans promise that he finally could recapture the magic of his stellar rookie season.

But seriously, everyone. Do the guy a favor and find him another nickname.
